Trenchless Crossing Inspectors

We are looking for contract Trenchless Crossing Inspectors to join our team for upcoming construction projects in Western Canada.

Position Requirements

This position is field based, and requires extended travel to remote locations year-round. Typical hours are 12-hour day or night shifts, with accommodations directly on site or in a nearby camp or hotel.

The Trenchless Crossing Inspector will be responsible for:

  • Inspection and supervision of HDD construction projects
  • Field reconnaissance of potential crossing locations – pipeline route and workspace scouting
  • Pre-construction planning in coordination with the engineering team
  • Construction site safety management and daily reporting
  • Detailed construction monitoring and reporting
  • Liaison with regulatory bodies, clients, contractors and BlueFox engineering team
  • Assist crossing and pipeline contractors with construction related issues (troubleshooting, problem solving)

This position is of a highly technical nature and requires frequent communication with engineers, construction managers, environmental monitors, surveyors, contractors and clients.

The following skills are required:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in MS office suite
  • Technical knowledge of pipeline construction, horizontal directional drilling construction and ancillary support services
  • Strong construction management skills, including: cost, schedule, quality and safety
  • Daily monitoring and reporting

The following experience is considered an asset:

  • Knowledge of directional steering and survey systems
  • Familiarity with CSA Z662 and Directive 50 requirements
  • Pipeline welding procedures
  • Construction site safety management and administration
  • Exposure to other trenchless construction methods (Microtunnel, Auger Bore, Direct Pipe, etc.)
  • The ideal candidate will possess at minimum five (5) years of pipeline construction experience with direct HDD experience in Alberta and British Columbia.

This is a contract position, and the candidate will need to fulfill the following commercial conditions:

  • Commercial general liability and automobile insurance, WCB and WorksafeBC coverage
  • Current and valid:
  • Driver’s license
  • H2S Alive
  • Standard First Aid / CPR
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Ground Disturbance
  • CSTS (or PST) certification
  • WHMIS
  • ATV Safety Training
  • Possess 4x4 vehicle, or have ability to rent as needed
